There are many categories of model including animals, birds & fishes; buildings & monuments; miniature domestic items; first world war; hats and shoes.  Examples of some of these are given below.

Dog in Kennel

Unknown maker.  7.1 cm high.  A cute model that would particularly appeal to animal model collectors.

Miniature Cheese Dish (1978-112-1)

“The London China”, made by Sampson Hancock, Bridge Works, Stoke-on-Trent.  8.4 cm long

Several manufacturers made miniature cheese dishes, some of which had removable covers and some of which were one piece.  One of the more popular miniature domestic items.

Miniature Binoculars

Pepper & salt pots.  Views of the Nothe Gardens and the Jubilee Clock.  Made in Germany.

Animals and birds were popular subjects for crested china models. Swans, usually in the form of posy holders like these, were particularly popular. Probably German.



Two-handled Tyg

No maker’s mark but probably of English manufacture.  Several firms made this model.  7 cm high.


Lincoln Imp

A most peculiar item to find with a Weymouth crest.  It is a model of a stone carving in Lincoln Cathedral.  It was probably made by Hewitt & Leadbetter, usual trade name “Willow Art”.
