Tea & Talks Programme – Autumn 2016

Our supporters, the Friends of Weymouth Museum, organise an autumn and spring programme of interesting talks by local historians.

The talks are held at St Nicholas Church, Buxton Road, DT4 9PJ. Doors open at 2pm when tea and biscuits are available, and the talk begins at 2.30pm. There is a small cost of £2 per person.

Monday 10 October:  Life behind the side shows Kay Townsend, Dorset Fairground Historian & Author

Monday 17 October: Bombardons & Phoenixs, Weymouth & Portland & the Mulberry Harbours Pauline Crump, Local Historian & Lecturer

Monday 31 October: Shaftesbury, King Alfred’s Legacy Rob Curtis, Blue Badge Guide & Local Historian

Monday 7 November: Dog fight over Portland, The Battle for Britain comes to Portland John Smith, Dorset Historian

Monday 14 November: Plaques & signs of Weymouth & Portland, a tour through time Rob Harris, Local Historian

Monday 21 November: Who was Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton? An update on one of Weymouth’s most illustrious MPs Joyce Fannon, Historian and Family History Lecturer
