Teas & Talks – Weymouth in the Time of Jane Austen

Monday, November 7, 2022

Local historical romance author Rachel Knowles takes you back to the time of George III when the fashion for sea bathing began and Weymouth rose to fame as the King’s favourite seaside resort. A talk in Regency costume.

Rachel Knowles writes faith-based Regency romance and historical non-fiction.  She first read Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice at the age of 13 and fell in love, not only with Mr Darcy, but with the entire Regency period.  Immersed in the world of Jane Austen, her stories are rich in historical detail, and she’s been sharing her research on the popular Regency History blog since 2011.

Rachel lives in Weymouth with her husband, Andrew. They have four grown-up daughters and a growing number of grandchildren.

The talk will be held in Hope United Reformed Church at 8 Trinity Street.  Tea & biscuits will be served from 2pm and the talk will begin at 2.30pm.

Tickets will be available on the door and are £2.00 for members of the Friends and £3.00 for visitors. (Exact change would be appreciated, if possible).
