Holy Trinity Church was built in 1836 and extended and reorientated in 1887.This photo which was taken in about 1865 shows the church in its original condition with the Town Bridge in the foreground. In the background is the original Holy Trinity School built in 1853, which was severely damaged in an air raid in November 1940 and was demolished in 1961.
The buildings to the right of the church were demolished to facilitate the extension and the steps leading to Chapelhay.
