9/10 HIGH STREET WEYMOUTH

This highly atmospheric photo was taken some time in the 1930s before neglect  and dereliction took place.

In the 1936/7 edition of Kelly’s Directory the properties are shown as being occupied by Mrs Bessie Oliver, shopkeeper and Joseph Sidney Oliver, fishmonger respectively.

But… what a photo which captures the flavour of the old High Street, which according to old residents was  realcommunity with a life of its own.

Weymouth Museum has been supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

We have also benefitted from the active support of The Friends of Weymouth Museum.
