THE OLD TOWN BRIDGE.

This photo depicts the old town bridge. Increasing traffic both road and seaborne led to a decision to replace the bridge and demolition began in 1928, the new bridge being opened two years later.

This photo must have been taken between 1926 and 1928 as the big advertisement on the side of the Palladium advertises the Regent  Cinema which was opened in 1926 following major alterations to the Jubilee Hall in St Thomas Street (now the Clipper site). On the left is a building which required demolition to accommodate the new bridge.
