FIVEWAYS JUNCTION

This area which was also known as Radipole Turn and Iron Box junction has changeda lot over the last 70 years.

The photo dates from around 1955 as in that year Alfonso Forte applied to build a fish and chip shop on the site. It had previously been occupied by an old stone and Acorrugated iron shed and advertisement hoardings seen here, which waspart of a former farm there.

The advertisements promote a sale by Talbot and Read Auctioneers, a dance with Tony Crosbie and his Orchestra at the Sidney Hall, some adult lectures and for the artistically inclined a concert in Dorchester by the Quintetto Boccherini.

To the left of the Lynch Road sign is the unadopted Benville Road which was adopted in about 1958, and Scources Garage. The family were better known as scrap dealers and a a number of interesting vehicles ended their lives there, including a number of Bournemouth trolleybuses.
